As Doug and Tony travel through the time / space vortex, they and the staff of Project Tic-Toc become frozen in time. Merlin the wizard appears and transports the two time-travellers to the Time Tunnel control room; here he commands them to be his servants, and then sends them back to the year 544 A.D., to Cornwall, England. Doug and Tony meet a young man named Arthur – a man destined to be king – whose father’s castle has been taken over by Vikings. They are then attacked by a party of Vikings; Doug is badly wounded by a sword thrust, while Tony and Arthur are taken prisoner by the chieftain, Wogan, and thrown into a dungeon. The beautiful Guinevere tends to Doug, who is swiftly restored to full health by Merlin’s powers. As Doug sets out to rescue Tony from the Castle, the Tic-Toc personnel decide to bring the time-travellers into the present; however, they are stopped by the arrival of Merlin, who orders them to leave Doug and Tony where they are.
Guinevere follows Doug to help him in his quest, but they are both captured by Vikings and imprisoned in the same dungeon as Tony and Arthur. Wogan orders the death of his prisoners - and a bowman shoot Arthur straight through the heart...
